About
From creating my own clothes as a child to designing bespoke furniture solutions as a teenager, creativity has always been at the heart of everything I do. When I couldn’t find the perfect unit to house my ever-growing music collection, I simply designed one myself and looking back, that instinct to create, improve and reimagine has shaped my entire journey.
My professional life has been rich and varied. I built a successful career as a Business Analyst in the City of London, where I developed a sharp eye for identifying what works, what doesn’t, and how to make things better a skill set that, as it turns out, translates beautifully into garden design. Problem solving and idea generation, the key skills.
I always sort to continue learning both with a degree in Architecture, an experience that truly unlocked my imagination and opened my eyes to the extraordinary possibilities of form, space and structure. Working within an architectural practice during this time gave me a taste of a truly creative environment, a world away from the corporate structures of financial and technology companies, not necessarily a ‘creative’ environment but one that gave me so many skills including project management.
After seeing the importance of the environment and sustainability while studying Architecture, I continued to learn with the Centre for Alternative Technology / UEL to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental and Energy Studies in 2014 and understanding the importance of looking at both old and new techniques to provide sustainable solutions while problem solving and generating design ideas. Going back to Victorian principles for storing produce overwinter in sandbeds or increasing the use of rainwater both in terms of absorption and storage for use during summer months.
Gardening and the production of produce culminated in taking up an allotment in 2007 and my experience (both good and bad) helped to develop my gardening skills but it was moving to my home, Gingerbread Cottage, in 2013 which lead to me looking and developing my garden design skill and this eventually lead to a Post Graduate Diploma in Garden Design at the British Academy of Garden Design in 2018. Life, as it often does, had other plans but my passion never wavered. I continued nurturing my own outdoor space throughout, keeping that creative connection to the garden very much alive, developing design ideas in my garden at Gingerbread Cottage.
In 2026 I graduated from the prestigious Inchbald School of Design with a Diploma in Garden Design. I am ready to bring together everything I have learned the analytical thinking, the architectural vision, the lifelong love of design and channel it into creating spaces which are both beautiful and functional but also keeping in mind the needs of all inhabitants.
Never resting on my laurels, I’m currently studying for the RHS Level 2 qualification.
